Digital humanities (DH) is growing at the college level and provides a valuable tool for K-12 learning design . DH converges with current education trends and aligns with school library learning practices: driven by student inquiry, addresses real-world problems, fosters innovation, unites diverse subjects. We will consider Baldwin Digital Archives as a case study for creating a culture of curiosity through DH and will look up-close at working with primary sources in an authentic and engaging way.

Join Radnor Township elementary and middle school librarians as they give examples of apps, databases, projects and presentation tools that have made research more than the R word in their schools. Do Ink, Nearpod, various databases, Storybook Creator, Animoto and local organizations will be discussed. Bring your iPads to try things out and ask questions.

We are going to share how we use children's literature to spark interest in reading in high school students. We use the text for term papers, bridges to other selections and summer reading initiatives. We also want to share our other endeavors to create a community of readers including One Book, One School, Community reading signs, book displays, school TV commercials/contests and genrefying the library.

Media specialists will act as students in this interactive, fast-moving, and thoroughly energetic workshop that introduces and analyzes the basic elements of storytelling and inspires out-of-the-box thinking. Use this workshop “Write Away!” to explore character, setting, and plot in books students are reading, and challenge aspiring writers to practice lateral thinking when it comes to their personal creative writing projects.
